GREENHAUS IS A MARKETPLACE FOR THE MODERN SUSTAINABLE HUMAN
WE ARE COMMITTED TO BRINGING YOU THE BEST IN QUALITY, DESIGN, & ETHICS.
" INTEGRITY IS DOING THE RIGHT THING,
EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING."
- C.S. LEWIS
1st and foremost, what does sustainability mean to us?
Sustainable means intelligent. It means acknowledging there is a smart way to do things. It's called many things in many languages, and can be interpreted in many ways. It's thinking things through, understanding outcomes, and doing your best to minimize impact. Sustainable is caring for the things you own, loving them, and using them. It's realizing your actions really do make a difference, that your consumption does have an environmental cost. It's not about having more than you need, but instead always having just what you need (and a good version of it!). It's going about life in a meaningful way, that's sustainable to us.
Greenhaus : committed to design & ethics
A collaboration between form and function at the top of their game.
The Greenhaus aesthetic is clean and casual, minimal but comfortable. Essential but luxurious. We are inspired by so many things: nature, culture, people, technology, art . Maybe it's a bit like the Japanese aesthetic theory of Wabi-Sabi. It's finding that sweet spot in moderation, it is understated and eternally timeless.
There are amazing people around the world working to create quality products, from sustainable clothing to handcrafted rugs . . . there is an ethical version of everything one could need, but as of now, finding these products can take quite a bit of time and research. Greenhaus is sorting through the options and bringing you the best sustainable essentials out there. We are determined to find the highest quality products at the most reasonable prices. Greenhaus puts ethical standards at the forefront, we don't support products without knowing where it was made, how it was made, and what it was made from.
+ In All Honesty
It comes down to the fact that there is wonderful talent across the globe , people who want to be designers, seamstresses, pattern makers, engineers, farmers, and on and on including all the wonderful jobs that it takes to produce clothing, accessories, furniture, home decor, beauty products, apothecary . . .
which is kind of a big deal
. . . because currently, the majority of our "things" come from factories where people are being asked to work for less than adequate wages in less than adequate settings, places where women are (75% of garment workers are female) being crammed together in life threatening situations and worked like machines.
there are also places where the same jobs help to provide a comfortable lifestyle for workers and their families. . .where an individuals talent is appreciated, and where an employee can be proud of their work. These are the studios, factories, and workshops we support. Greenhaus aims at helping make dreams come true, not turning nightmares into realities.
We do not support unfair labor practices, ever.
GROW SOMETHING REAL GOOD
Greenhaus looks for labels that are using organic fabrics and ethical materials, we are constantly learning about new potential alternatives (we saw an article on a leather made from pineapple the other day!) and will adapt and grow as new possibilities and research come about.
There is quality craftsmanship at work, perfected designs being manufactured, and ethical practices happening . . . Greenhaus is proud to bring the best of these labels together under one roof
